  • ☞This festival is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, Sankat Chauth, Sanashti Chaturthi. During Sanakt Chauth mothers pray for the long life of their children to God Shree Ganesha.
  • ☞They worship Shree Ganesh & pray for good health, wealth, and happiness every morning and evening.
  • ☞On Shree Ganesh Chaturthi most people keep fasting and read vrat's story also.

Significance and history of Shree Ganesh Chaturthi.

  • ☞As per the ancient story, once Goddess Parvatima and God Shiva was sat near the river Naramad's bank. At that moment's Goddess Parvatima was appel to God Shiva to play the chauppad game to spend time. So God Shiva agreed and before starting they were confused that who will decide the victory. So Goddess Parvatima decided to make one idol with the help of grass and then gave life to that idol. After that Goddess Parvatimaa had won three times.
  • ☞One ancient story is that once all God had faced one issue, and so they all went to God Shiva for helping them. Lord Shiva wanted to examine his children Shree Ganesha and Shree Kartikey, and so he said who come first after rounding the earth, he will be sent for helping these God.
  • ☞Kartikey started his journey fast but Shree Ganesh begins to circumambulate to his parents God Shiva and Goddess Parvati ma. So their parents declared that Shree Ganesh would go to help all God because to give such respect first to parents, is more enough than to journey the earth.
  • ☞From ancient times, devotees have been worshiping Lord Ganesh inside their house on Shree Ganesh Chaturthi.
  • ☞But from 1893, in Maharashtra, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, one of the freedom fighters of India, had begun Shree Ganesh Festivity outside publically. And from then people entire India is celebrating every year 10 days festivals inside the home and outside publically too.
  • ☞Devotees offer different types of delicious vegetable full meals, Modak laddoos, sweets, prasad, etc to Shree Ganesha for ten days.
  • ☞Devotees pray with various types of flowers- specially Jasud Flower, Durva grass, etc.
  • ☞As per ancient history, Shree Ganesh has two wives named Ridhdhi and Sidhdhi. And two sons named Shubh & Labh. You mostly can see these names surrounding the idol of Shree Ganesh.

How do people of India celebrate the festival Ganeshotsav?

  1. People start to prepare one pavilion 10-15 days before Shree Ganesh Chaturthi and after that decorate that pavilion to welcome the statue of Shree Ganesh on Shree Ganesh Chaturthi. People have the choice to select various sizes and heights of idols as they make pavilions. According to their pavilion, people book their idols, made by artists. Prices will be quite different as per the size of the idol.
  2. On Shree Ganesh Chaturthi day, people bring their idols along with a music system & with Shree Ganesha's songs to their pavilions. People also like to dance traditional dance to welcome Shree Ganesha.
  3. After worship and installing the statue of Shree Ganesha people daily pray in the morning and in the evening till 10 days together.
  4. On the last day, all people get together in the morning and worship Shree Ganesha. By chanting "Ganpati Bappa Moria" devotees will put the idol of Shree Ganesha in decorative vehicles. After that, the idol is immersed in the nearest river or lake.
  5. Every year government instructs people to use clay idols only in place of plaster of parish idols. People also will obey the all restrictions declared by the government.
  6. How great a festival is this, people celebrate it for ten days. People worship first praying Lord Shree Ganesha and get blessed by Shree Ganesha for a healthy, wealthy, and happy life.
  7. So, enjoy the festival of wisdom, blessing, and fresh starts.
