There are so many harvesting festivals in India such as Pongal Festival, Lohari Festival, Makar Sankranti, Basant Panchami, Holi, Diwali, etc. 

There are some non-harvesting festivals in India which people also celebrate very enthusiastically.

The Maha Shivratri

The Maha Shivratri is biggest than the other 12 Shivratri which are coming in a year so known as Maha Shivratri. 

The Maha Shivratri, the most famous Hindu festival mainly celebrated in India & Nepal which is celebrated with utmost joy and symbolizes the worship of Lord Shiva. 

As per ancient history, if we make fasting on this the Maha Shivratri, then we will get heaven at the end of life.

The Maha Shivratri comes on the new moon day and people get up early in the morning & take bathing, wear neat & clean clothes and firstly like to visit Shivalaya and bathing Linga and worship Lord Shiva heartily, chanting “Om Namah Shivay”. 

The Maha Shivratri is on 11th March, Thursday 2021 that is in the month of Magh as per Hindu Calander. 

People like to do fasting all day during the Maha Shivratri, & they will eat baked potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, baked yam, etc. in place of full dish eating.

Krishna  Janmashtami

Krishna  Janmashtami is a very auspicious day for the Hindu religion that celebrates with great enthusiasm.

Krishna  Janmashtami is the birthday of Lord Krishna falls on Ashtami.

Krishna  Janmashtami – Janm means birth and Ashtami means Eighth.

Shree Radhe Krishna - Janmashtami Festivals India

Krishna Janmashtami is also known as Gokulashtami which is coming on Monday, 30 August 2021.

People visit temples and worship Lord Shree Krishna and also chanting “Jai Ranchhod Maharaja & Shree Krishnam Vande Jagat Guru”.

People celebrate Janmashtami by keeping fast, praying at temples, or at home through singing devotional songs of Shri Krishna, up to the clock strikes twelve midnight.

Devotees like to make decorate, bathing and wear beautiful clothing(Waagha) to the idol of Lord Krishna, and then placed it in a Cradle (Paalne me Jula Julaate hai).
