The Greek meaning of X, Xmas, and Christmas essentially mean the same means Christ + mas = Christmas. It is a cultural holiday called winter solstice which will start this year, Wednesday, 22nd December’21 and ends on Sunday, 2nd January’22 means a total of “TWELVE DAYS” celebration.

The Portuguese word for Christmas is Natal. For your Knowledge, there is also Summer Solstice which occurs on 21st June and is also known as the longest day of the year. 

 There is an old tradition of distributing gifts by Santa Claus at midnight on Christmas to every child. It is believed that Santa comes to every house at the night and gives gifts to the children. “Children eagerly wait for Santa to fulfill their wish”. 

They also write their wish and hang it outside hoping Santa will come and fulfill their wishes. All Teachers dress as Santa Claus and distribute gifts to children and spread happiness and lots of joy. Christmas Day is a public holiday, and it is a day off for schools, general populations, etc; the area remains closed.

Note:-Thanksgiving – is an important holiday, celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of November. Thanksgiving precedes “Black Friday” and is traditionally to give thanks for the food collected after harvesting.
